This means you can now implement AI-powered field extraction, table extraction, document classification, and many other valuable actions in your no-code document processing workflows.

What is Document AI?

The Cloudmersive Document AI API is a document-centric advanced AI library built on Cloudmersive’s proprietary AI platform. It’s designed to help teams automatically understand and control documents as they move through enterprise workflows, and it aims to solve one of the most persistent problems in document automation: turning unstructured files into structured, usable data which downstream people and systems can easily work with.

The Document AI library offers a host of intelligent document processing capabilities capable of extracting information from complex file containers (e.g., Excel, PDF, Word) and document images (e.g., scanned & photographed documents in JPG, PNG, and other image formats) alike.

Document AI offers the following core solutions:

1. Answering questions about a document (e.g., “Was this contract signed by both parties?”)
2. Enforcing policies to allow or block a document (e.g., “DENY unsigned contracts”)
3. Extracting specific, targeted fields from a document (e.g., “Invoice Number” or “Invoice Total”)
4. Extracting tables of data from a document (e.g., invoice items)
5. Extracting all fields and tables from a document collectively
6. Extracting a classification or category from a document (e.g., is this an “Invoice” or a “Tax Form”?)
7. Extracting an accurate, descriptive natural language summary based on a document’s contents

Using the Document AI Connector in Power Automate

The Document AI connector allows you to seamlessly implement AI-powered document understanding directly into your no-code workflows.

The connector can be found in the Power Automate library using the search string “Document AI”.

After you’ve established a Document AI connection with your Cloudmersive API key, you can begin immediately implementing and utilizing Document AI in your new or pre-existing document processing workflows.

Document AI Connector Implementation Examples

You can, for example, implement the Extract Classification or Category from a Document using Advanced AI action to make your flows capable of accepting a wider range of input file types. Flows that process tax forms, for instance, can now be asked to intelligently distinguish between W4 forms, 1040 forms, and W2 forms.

Additionally, you can implement the Extract Field Values from a Document using Advanced AI action to return important fields from an invoice (e.g., the invoice number and invoice total) and send those field values to a stakeholder for human approval.

As one final example, you can implement the Enforce Polices to a Document to Allow or Block it using Advanced AI action to flag unsigned legal contracts and request human intervention before storing them in SharePoint.

Final Thoughts
